Postman Pat Has Left Us

30 July 2016

By Joseph

Ken Barrie – the voice behind one of our childhood heroes Postman Pat – has died peacefully at his home in Buckinghamshire at the age of 83 after suffering from liver cancer. The voice actor starred in 31 episodes of Postman Pat from 1981 to 2005, taking on multiple role in the series. Surprisingly, Barrie had at some point voiced characters such as Mrs Goggins, Alf Thompson and Ted Glen, as well the man with a black and white cat, Pat Clifton.

Many of you reading this article will have grown up around the endearing valley of Greendale and the trials and tribulations of its humble postman, and – even though we’ve grown out of his antics now – the death of Pat’s voice master feels somewhat poignant. Hopefully, Ken Barrie will be able to rest in peace knowing that he brought smiles to millions of children’s faces.
