There is no denying that very few of us have ever shown a huge amount of support or praise for David Cameron’s reforms over the past few years (particularly after the incident with the pig). However, he could actually be on to something this time – Safe Families for Children boss Sir Peter Vardy has applauded Cameron on his new schemes that will tackle poor parenting and relationship support.

Cameron will be introducing the child poverty initiative, the Life Chances Strategy, which is said to cater for all families, not just those who are economically disadvantaged. The scheme will also involve giving vouchers to parents, allowing them to attend child raising classes. Alongside this, Cameron states that there will be an extra £35 million spent on providing relationship support to those in need. This is linked to the claim that “children in families that break apart are more than twice as likely to experience poverty as those whose families stay together”, tackling the problem at the very beginning.

Sir Peter Vardy urged Cameron to take his reforms a step further, giving more support to the failing children’s departments. He also believed that this move would be beneficial for charities like his own, as it would allow them to play a more central role in child support.

Do you agree? Is this a step in the right direction for Cameron?
