Professional Overwatch player Matt “Dellor” Vaughn has been banned from eSports events and has quit the scene altogether after using a racial slur repeatedly for 30 seconds.

Toronto eSports, the team he represented, issued a statement saying he has essentially been fired, due to the breach of contract.

Matt has apologised on Twitter, and added he was retiring from professional gaming. The incident in question was in a ranked match. As his character had been killed, the players sharing the lobby started to criticise his gameplay. On Twitter, he explained:

“I won’t try to argue or make an excuse, I don’t have any.

“I just want people to know what happened. I was having a really bad day.”

In the statement the team released, they said:

“Immediately upon learning of the incident, the player was interviewed, admitted to the offence, and was notified that his contract with the organization was being terminated.”

Having a bad day is no excuse for that kind of language, whether you’re being criticised for bad plays or not. We all get salty, but using racial language is low-hanging fruit. Get creative, yee scurvy, land-lubbin’, salty dogs.

See?

Far funnier.

Plus pirate theme.

Moral of the story? Being awful or having a bad day or match is no excuse for being a b**p.
