There’s a certain degree of irony here.

Ridley Scott, creator of Alien, Gladiator, Blade Runner and director of the reboot of Alien coming this year, has talked about why he has never tackled a superhero movie, and why he has no interest in doing so, when recently speaking to Digital Spy.

He said that he had turned down quite a few opportunities to work on a hero film, but said the stories are too unrealistic.

“Superhero movies are not my kind of thing; that’s why I’ve never really done one,” he said. “[I’ve been asked] several times, but I can’t believe in the thin, gossamer tightrope of the non-reality of the situation of the superhero.”

He… he does realise he made Prometheus, right? Remember?

But while he has not made a superhero film, he can see where one of his films could share similar characteristics.

“I’ve done that kind of movie; Blade Runner really is a comic strip when you think about it,” he said. “It’s a dark story told in an unreal world. You could almost put Batman or Superman in that world, that atmosphere.”

Alien: Covenant comes out this May, and the trailer looks terrifying.
