Davina McCall got the ball rolling for Sport Relief when she completed her infamous BT Sport Relief Challenge where she swam, cycled and ran 500 miles from Edinburgh to London over a seven day period. The One Show presenter, Alex Jones, also did her part for charity by climbing 1200 feet up the Moonlight Buttress in Utah for her challenge ‘Alex Against the Rock’.

Nick Grimshaw cycled for 12 hours on an exercise bike outside of the BBC Radio studios along with pals such as Danny Dyer and The 1975 to help cycle 1,000 miles. Nick raised more than £115,000 for his challenge BBC Radio Around the World for Sport Relief. BBC Radio 2’s presenter Jo Whiley also completed a staggering 26 hour treadmill challenge which also helped raise even more money for charity.

Sport Relief 2014 took to our screen on Friday night. 50% of the money raised will go to worthy causes in the UK and the other 50% will help people in need abroad. Football legend Gary Lineker and Britain’s Got Talent judge David Walliams hosted the show for the first time and it was also the first time in which the show had been recorded at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

Girl group Little Mix played their part and recorded the official Sport Relief single ‘Word Up’ which they exclusively performed for the viewers on Friday night. Miranda Hart got viewers on their feet and showed us how to shake our maracas with some, what we shall call, exercise moves.

David Beckham joined forces with Sir David Jason and Nicholas Lyndhurst for a special edition of Only Fools and Horses. Lovely jubbly. Del Boy and Rodney Trotter blessing our screens once more after 11 years with a sporting hero for an unforgettable sport relief special. Cushty!

Australian singers Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan performed their 1988 hit ‘Especially For You’ and Boyzone hit our screens once again. Gary Barlow brought together 20 of his musical friends including Connor Maynard, Pixie Lott and Katy B to sing the official England 2014 FIFA World Cup song which is Take That’s ‘Greatest Day’ along with Gary Lineker. However Coldplay stole the night by personally donating £260,000 to Sport Relief for Jo Whiley’s Sport Relief Treadmill Challenge.

Many celebrities took part in raising money for Sport Relief 2014 and by the end of the night Sport Relief managed to raise over £53 million!
