What happens when your mum buys 5 pancakes and you eat them all to yourself? Well, you might receive a voicemail that sounds a bit like the one 18-year-old Jack Leyton-Smith’s mum sent him:

This is exactly the type of thing that Twitter was created for and I challenge anyone to find a funnier tweet than this from last week.

The combination of a classic motherly overreaction to a really trivial matter combined with the thick Scottish accents makes for some Twitter gold. What makes it funnier is the fact that Jack’s mum has clearly tried to call/text him but he wouldn’t pick up the phone. He must have known he was in for a pancake-related earful.

A personal highlight is the way his mum rolls the R when she tells her son that his antics were “the height of grrreed”.

When asked about the whole incident, Jack told the Daily Record “I woke up for college that morning and realised the cereal was finished so I decided to finish the pancakes because I was really hungry. My family woke up in the morning five minutes before I leave to catch the bus and my little brother asked my mum if he could have some pancakes. At that point, I ran out the house before they could notice and I avoided all my mum’s calls because I knew she was angry.”

While we don’t know if his mum sees the funny side yet, it’s quite clear that Jack has been ready to laugh the whole thing off from the start. He changed his profile picture to this shortly after the tweet went viral:
