Grime artist Stormzy has won the best solo artist prize at the GQ Men of the Year awards. He was presented the award by Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn.

Stormzy was one of the many artists who backed the #Grime4Corbyn campaign before the general election this year. Grime artists publicly backed Labour and even talked with Corbyn about what he would do as PM.

Stormzy seems to be enjoying himself at the moment, tweeting that he had even met Ronan Keating.

I mean, I guess I would be excited too?

A bunch of other awards were handed out at the ceremony, including the inspirational award, given to Pele, by England manager Gareth Southgate.

The ceremony took place in the Tate Modern art gallery in London. Mark Hamill, Luke Skywalker himself, was also presented with an award by Simon Pegg. He accepted the icon prize and used his speech to talk about the upcoming Star Wars film.

“I say that despite the fact he has a much bigger part in The Force Awakens than I do, but don’t worry, in The Last Jedi I promise you, my part will be twice as big,”

I mean that doesn’t exactly inspire confidence given Hamill’s part in The Force Awakens was about 30 seconds.

“I know what you want to ask. Do you have any advice on how we too can be icons?

“It’s really rather simple, step one, blow up a Death Star. You will gain the good will and deep gratitude of untold millions and it will last a lifetime. Once you’ve established yourself as an icon of virtue and heroism like Luke, go for the Joker, an icon of villainy and depravity.”

He’s a good lad, isn’t he?

Other awards included editors special, which went to the Netflix series Stranger Things. Jared Leto was named actor of the year, although I’m not sure if the people presenting the award watched Suicide Squad before giving it to him. The Grand Tour won TV personalities and Liam Gallagher won Rock’n’roll star.

Good job people.
