‘Suspicious Package’ Found on M1

The M1 has been closed in both directions after a ‘suspicious object’ was found underneath a bridge, between Northampton and junction 14 for Milton Keynes.

Bomb disposal units have been photographed at the scene and Highways England has posted diversions, however, it is still unclear when the road will reopen. National Express has added 45 minutes to buses headed in that direction using the motorway.

The Ministry of Defence has also been contacted by the BBC. They have not responded yet. Thames Valley Police are leading the investigation and Environmental Protection Unit are also on the scene. It is still unclear as to what is in this package. We’ll update if anything happens.
