Ex-University of Hartford student, Brianna Brochu, has brutally brought to light that racism is still alive and thriving in the US after the attempted poisoning and bullying of her black roommate, Chennel “Jazzy” Rowe.

The white student deliberately contaminated and damaged Rowe’s possessions to the point where Rowe was becoming seriously sick and unable to sleep or speak because of extreme throat pain.

What’s most sickening is that Brochu bragged about her cruel vendetta to get rid of her roommate on Instagram:

“Finally did it yo girl got rid of her roommate!! After 1½ month of spitting in her coconut oil, putting mouldy clam dip in her lotions, rubbing used tampons oh [sic] her backpack, putting her toothbrush places where the sun doesn’t shine, and so much more, I can finally say goodbye Jamaican Barbie,” she wrote in an Instagram post.

Rowe took to Facebook Live to inform the world of her story after her University acted insufficiently on her report and the Public Health team told her that she could be removed from the residential side of campus if she spoke about the bullying she had endured.

In the video, Rowe describes being constantly given the cold shoulder by Brochu and feeling like she was “unwanted in her own room”. She also said Brochu had posted videos of Rowe eating on Instagram with the caption “if only she knew where her utensils been.”

Following the Facebook video, Brochu was arrested and faces charges of criminal mischief, breach of peace and second-degree intimidation which could amount to over 6 years in prison if she is found guilty.

Brochu admitted to rubbing used tampons on Rowe’s bag and licking her utensils but denies doing anything else, claiming her Instagram posts were an attempt to be funny rather than a confession.

She is currently on a $1000 dollar bail and will next appear in court on the 15th of November.
