The Importance of Bees

The Internet learned this week that bees have been added to the US’s list of endangered animals for the first time ever and it’s nice to see that people are taking this very seriously. It’s hard to imagine that such a tiny, clumsy creature is so vital for the survival of not just mankind but our entire planet, but it is true. Without bees, our food chain would be a great deal shorter and less complex and there’s no doubt that we would never be able to grow enough crops to be able to feed our planet without them. 84% of crops that mankind relies on could not exist without bees pollinating them and many plants can only reproduce because of bees. The protection of these insects is of paramount importance if we want to survive.

In fact, it was once said by Albert Einstein that once bees become extinct, man would only have “four more years” left on Earth before we die out as a species. Long story short, if we don’t start to protect the environment and its creatures right now, the end of the world could happen very shortly.

It is up to the government and industry to ensure that every decision that is made does not harm our fragile surroundings in any way.
