The Jungle Book Roars

After a rather good reception from critics, The Jungle Book has taken the box office by storm this week. It’s so far scored $103.6m (£73.1m) at box office.
Its debut was the second biggest launch for April, just behind Furious 7’s $147.2m (£104m) launch back in 2015.
Jon Favreau’s rendition of The Jungle Book also made an estimated $136.1m (£96m) outside of the US and Canada.
This isn’t the first attempt at revitalising Disney IP’s through live action. Alice in Wonderland, Cinderella and Maleficent were all successful in their revitalisation of some of Disney’s most iconic characters. Maleficent received praise for its approach to the classic Sleeping Beauty story, with a twist.
The Jungle Book (2016) recreates the original characters through CGI rather spectacularly.
All the animals are done through animation, with Neel Sethi debuting as Mowgli.
The film is being praised all over, as ‘an adventure story for kids with a fantastic sense of wonder.’
Might be worth a look.
