Subtle but unmissable. Sunday night’s episode of the 20-year running animation, The Simpsons, paid a small but touching tribute to the siege of Paris earlier this month. The show is the perfect blend of social commentary and humour, and it’s exactly that blend that makes the show so watchable by all ages.

In its latest episode, ‘Lisa with an S’, the universal cartoon proved for the umpteenth time just how poignant and thought provoking it can be, by paying a short – but very moving – tribute to the 130 people who lost their lives.

The Simpsons has often been a voice in times of attack. Earlier this year, they honoured those whose lives had been claimed by the Charlie Hebdo attacks by featuring Maggie Simpson holding a French flag with the famous words ‘Je Suis Charlie’ written on it.
