Ah, The Sims. The must-have game of hipsters and bored people everywhere, it has just made a real stride in its implementation of gender in game.

As of the game’s latest patch, you can now create literally any Sim you want.

Regardless of gender, ethnicity, sexuality, or orientation.

And that kicks ass.

On their website they introduce the update by saying:

The Sims 4 exec producer said that the update has been in the works for more than a year.

“Female Sims can wear sharp men’s suits like Ellen (DeGeneres), and male Sims can wear heels like Prince.”

The game has always been a sort of haven for all things moving forward. Same sex relationships have been in the game since 2000, although same sex marriage was only introduced to the game in 2009.

The game promotes the idea of choosing your own voice, your walk, and your style, regardless of your gender. You can even choose things like pregnancy options, what sex your Sim is interested in and basically everything else.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen EA show their appreciation for all walks of life. In their games Dragon Age and Mass Effect, it is up to you to decide who you romance, regardless of gender, and what you present yourself as.

There will be fans who see this as pandering, or a cop-out to get the ‘millennials’ in on the game, and to them we say: you will never look as fabulous as my Sim does in heels and denim.

The update is live now!
