The Weeknd Owns the BMAs

R’n’B artist The Weeknd won big at the BMAs, taking home eight awards, including Top 100 Artist and Top R’n’B Album for Beauty Behind the Madness.
He beat artists like One Direction and Justin Bieber for his win, and dedicated it to Prince, who died suddenly last month at age 57.
In November, Prince actually presented the Canadian artist with the award for best soul/R’n’B album.

Other award winners included Justin Bieber, One Direction, Wiz Khalifa and Adele.
The night was filled with speeches from many artists paying their respects to Prince, and there was even a duet of Purple Rain performed by Madonna and Stevie Wonder.
We were also treated to a performance by Kesha, which was a surprise, given that her label claimed she wouldn’t be able to perform. But then again, her label have also kept her trapped in a contract with an abusive manager. So anything’s possible.
Here are the winners!
