23 people have been confirmed dead after the awful attack on Manchester Arena, by a singular guy with a skewed ideology, and explosives. People are calling this the worst incident of bombing in the UK since the London bombings in 2005.

But you know what we aren’t going to do?

We aren’t going to name the culprit. We aren’t going to talk about how children were among those unfortunate enough to be caught in the blast.

You know what we are going to talk about?

These people:

People who care. Emergency services, residents offering cups of tea and a place to stay:

To the pub owners who offered refuge to those shaken by the incident and the public service workers who worked through the night to help those in need.

To the homeless guy who sat with a dying woman consoling her.

You might be angry. You might feel justified in lashing out at a certain community that you think caused this. But stop. Direct your anger toward a more noble effort. Donate blood. Check social media, signal boost those who are still missing. Get angry, sure. But don’t let that anger consume you.

Be compassionate toward those who have lost loved ones, and be thankful if you have family members who survived.

You know, it gets harder and harder to write stuff like this.

Cherish your loved ones. And if you are in need of help, contact any of these numbers:

Emergency helpline: 0800 096 0095

Victim supportline: 0808 168 9111

Foundation for Peace Survivors’ Assistance Network: 01925 581240

Thoughts are with all who were affected by the attack. Stay strong Manchester. You always have.
