Learning a foreign language is an absolutely amazing skill, which will benefit you throughout your whole life. So, it’s definitely worth taking one up, or if you’re already studying one as a GCSE, for instance, put that little bit of extra effort in; it’ll be worth it!

Oh, but it’s so hard! I hear you say. Well, yes, it can be. It might take a while to pick it up but once you’ve figured out the basics you’ll be on the right track to becoming fluent! Well, give it a few years…

So, what’s so good about learning a foreign language?

1) Increase your career prospects

-If you have a language on your CV, you’ll immediately stand out from the crowd. It shows that not only do you have great skills in reading, writing, and speaking, but you have the motivation to go that extra mile.

-If you don’t believe us, check out the stats. Research has shown that if you’re bilingual you’re likely to earn more, plus interpreters and translators are among the top growing occupations, meaning that there will be a ton of opportunities available for you in the future!

2) The ability to engage with new people

– Learning a language gives you the ability to engage with so many more people. You could meet a life-long friend, or maybe even the love of your life! It just creates so many more opportunities.

3) Study or live overseas

– Travelling can be great fun, and an experience to remember for a lifetime. So, being able to visit another country and engage with the people there will make your experience a whole lot better.

– Plus, if you ever decide to live overseas it’ll make the move much less stressful!

4) Discover a new culture

– England is great, but there’s so much more out there to get involved in. Learning a language helps you to engage with a country’s culture, so if you love music, books, or film then you’re in for a treat.

5) It’s FUN!

– Most importantly, it can be a LOT of fun. Meeting new people, learning new things – what more could you possibly want?
