Trumping Ignorance

As it gets closer and closer to the American Presidential Election, all of the key nominees are really stepping up their game, and Trump is certainly standing out, but for all of the wrong reasons. Recently, a video popped up online of some Trump supporters being interviewed at a rally, and while some of the answers were quite amusing it was more shocking than anything else.

Here are just a few examples (on each occasion the interviewer’s words are in bold):

  • It’s important to have respect for everyone’s religion.

    Do you respect christianity? I do.

    Judaism? Yes.

    Islam? No.

Now, with recent events, we could rant on about this one for a long time. It is totally and completely unfair to use one particular religion as a scapegoat for all of the problems in the world, and that is exactly what Trump is promoting.

  • Can a woman be president? 

    No. A female has more hormones, she can start a war in 10 seconds, if she has hot flushes or whatever.

    Haven’t all wars been started by men?

    (Long pause) Hmm. Yes.

Again, this one is just down to pure stupidity. Are we in 2016, or are we back in the 20th century? Women and men are equal, and both are completely capable of running for president. Instead of worrying about the gender of your next president, why don’t you start thinking about whether or not they’re going to turn your country into a restricted and racist place to live.

Finally, our favourite interview was with a man wearing a shirt that says ‘Hillary sucks, but not like Monica’, while stating “it’s an American ideal that we treat women with respect”. How ironic. Sounds just like a Trump supporter.
