Literally, a day after Twitter announced it would be cracking down on hate speech, it has suspended the accounts of the British far-right group Britain First

They were banned on the grounds of hate speech. Paul Golding and Jayda Fransen can no longer tweet and their posts will no longer turn up when searching. Their organisation’s official page has been suspended also. Britain First was started a few years ago, it has gained a disappointing number of followers. All of whom share similar ideals when it comes to race and religion. That being if you’re brown and not Christian you shouldn’t be in the UK.

Anyone else think the peace sign is grossly ironic?

It would also appear that all three tweets that the POTUS retweeted from Fransen have disappeared too.

The messages in question featured anti-Muslim videos and proved incredibly controversial when they were shared by the President. The Prime Minister called this ‘the wrong for the president to have done’.

The two leaders of the far-right group were arrested earlier this week over behaviour in Northern Ireland. Fransen had been arrested over an ‘incident at a peace wall’. Part of her release on bail was a court order, telling her not to be within 500m of any demonstration or parade in Northern Ireland.

She is due to return to court on 9th January.
