After Star Trek Beyond in 2016, things have been relatively quiet on the final frontier. While the most recent movie wasn’t a flop, it was nowhere near as successful as the other two, Into Darkness and 2009’s Star Trek.

Recently it was revealed that Quentin Tarantino was involved, which only confused matters more. Now Paramount boss Jim Gianopulos mentioned the matter at CinemaCon, saying there would be two separate movies coming up. This comes from The Hollywood Reporter.

While no further details have been shared about the projects, there have been rumours of two separate Star Trek projects. Paramount announced that Thor star Chris Hemsworth would star in the fourth movie, reprising his role as George Kirk, who briefly starred in the initial reboot. However, this was announced some time ago.

Cast and crew recently mourned the death of one of their own. Anton Yelchin died in a freak accident just before Beyond came out.

More recently, it was revealed Tarantino would be working alongside producer JJ Abrams on a new movie. However, Simon Pegg, who plays Scotty, recently chimed in saying:

‘He’s got in his California movie [Once Upon A Time in Hollywood] to do and then I think [he’s] only doing one more film after that. And I doubt he could get around to directing a Star Trek in two or three years,’ he told the Happy Sad Confused podcast.

Aside from this though, the recently released Star Trek Discovery has started production for its second series. The show will be screened on CBS and Netflix. It doesn’t have a premiere yet.
