In light of recent terror incidents in both the UK and worldwide, there has been a lot of talk about how we should deal with terrorists and people that murder innocent children. UKIP leader Paul Nuttall knows exactly how he would handle these criminals and therefore he advocates bringing the death penalty back to the UK. Although the death penalty is not mentioned at all in the manifesto, it is something that might come up as a real topical issue in the future, especially if UKIP gain more representation after the upcoming general election.

In an interview with the Mail on Sunday, he said this regarding the whole issue:

“‘For people who kill a (British) soldier and harm children, I would not have a problem doing it. I believe in capital punishment for treason. Opinion polls show the vast majority of people agree with me.”

Back in 2016 he had said he’d like to hold a referendum about bringing back the death penalty but he faced a lot of criticism for this view. People aren’t comfortable with the idea, but with the increasing threat of Islamic terror, it could be something that is very likely to return to Britain in the next few years.
