Wanderlust Wednesday – Cultural Kyoto

2 March 2016

By Nicole

Hello guys and girls, and welcome back to another Wanderlust Wednesday!

For this week’s post on all the weird and wonderful places in the world, I decided to pick a location from my travel bucket list which I think you’re all going to love!

Today’s post is on Kyoto, one of the largest cities in Japan, and bursting with Japanese cultural heritage. The traditional calming beauty of Kyoto is a world apart from the wacky and weird capital, Tokyo, and boasts some of the most beautiful sights in Japan, including Buddhist temples, stunning shrines, and traditional tea ceremonies.

Whereas the more well-known and current capital Tokyo is all industrial, full of shops, bars, cafes and sky scrapers, the old capital Kyoto is on the more modest side of things. Visit Kyoto and you can expect to find beautiful parks, the most gorgeous pink cherry blossom trees, huge lakes, and some of the most magnificent traditional temples that Japan has to offer.

If you want to feel like you’ve just entered a Japanese picture book, a visit to Kyoto should definitely be at the top of your list. And though visiting in the spring time to visit the annual cherry blossom festival is a must-do, Kyoto is equally as beautiful in Winter when the famous lakes and temples are glistening with Japan’s powdery white snow!

So if you’re planning on a visit to Japan any time soon, don’t just stick to crazy urban Tokyo – make sure you check out the old capital Kyoto to see Japan’s more traditional, natural beauty. And if you have any pictures from your trips to Japan, make sure you share them with us @nebeep by hashtagging them #ShareTheWorld.

Happy Wanderlust Wednesday everyone!
