If you’re looking for some free games to play this weekend, H1Z1, Homefront: Revolution and even a big chunk of Hitman will be available for free.

With the flow of big name titles slowing down a bit as we near Christmas, it might be time to look at some smaller titles. Steam is holding a free weekend for H1Z1 and Homefront. The two games will be available until Sunday 10 PM BST.

Homefront: Revolution is a meh first-person shooter, in which you spend most of your time liberating areas from the North Korean hold on the USA. It was an average shooter and could be fun for a few hours. The first game came out in 2011 and was an incredibly linear corridor shooter, for all intent and purposes. Not great but worth a gander at least.

H1Z1 is something we’ve covered before. This Early Access title has morphed into a new game several times since its inception in 2015. It’s a mash-up of basically every survival title on Steam. At one point it tried to copy what DayZ had done. However, through the course of its life, the developers realised that players didn’t want zombies anymore, they wanted PVP combat. H1Z1 embraced this, completely overhauling its map, weapons, models and much more. The game was renamed to Just Survive earlier this year in conjunction with this change.

Hitman is now free to play for a little while too. The entire first mission is free to play, which takes place in Paris. This free version of the level contains everything you’d get if you paid for it and is available from now until 5th January. But if you download it now, you’ll get to keep it for free after that date. The holiday pack is up for grabs too, with thieves trying to steal presents. You can also lob a brick off Santa and steal his clothes.

Neat.
