It has been confirmed by police today that Andreea Cristea, the woman who fell off of Westminster Bridge and into the Thames just over two weeks ago, has died.

Ms Cristea is the fifth victim of the attacks to lose their life and was on holiday from Romania with her boyfriend Andrei Burnaz. Romania’s UK ambassador Dan Mihalache told the BBC that Mr Burnaz was going to propose to the 31-year-old on the day of the attack.

As the couple were walking along Westminster Bridge, terrorist Khalid Masood drove a car into Mr Burnaz who broke his leg before pushing Ms Cristea into the Thames where she was later pulled out by a rescue boat and rushed to hospital.

In a statement, her family said: “After fighting for her life for over two weeks, our beloved and irreplaceable Andreea – wonderful daughter, sister, partner, dedicated friend and the most unique and life-loving person you can imagine – was cruelly and brutally ripped away from our lives in the most heartless and spiritless way.

“She will always be remembered as our shining ray of light that will forever keep on shining in our hearts.”

The other people killed on the bridge were Aysha Frade, 44, who was on her way to pick up her children from school, US tourist Kurt Cochran, 54, retired window cleaner Leslie Rhodes, 75 and PC Keith Palmer who confronted the terrorist as he tried to get into Parliament.
