James Corden is back at it again. Fortunately, he hasn’t been cosying up to Republicans or making insensitive Harvey Weinstein jokes this time but he has still managed to annoy the Internet by taking centre stage from the Stranger Things boys. Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp Gaten Matarazzo and Caleb McLaughlin have proven time and time again that they all have the full package- they can act, sing and each have a great showbiz personality. They don’t need any input from James Corden when it comes to entertaining an audience. The boys appeared on the Late Late Show and performed a Motown cover and the first 35 seconds of it are amazing until Corden takes a long solo for himself instead of fully showcasing the teenagers’ talent.

Part of the skill of hosting is knowing when to take a step back and let your guests get on with it. Yes, the name of the show is the Late Late Show with James Corden but it’s a talk show and star of each episode should be the guests. Corden should have taken a backseat here- we’ve all heard him sing- or rather, sing over the top of his carpool karaoke guests- loads of times. The Internet was full of praise for the boys and full of criticism for Corden. Some people didn’t even seem to recognise him at first:

A good comparison made by Pamela here:

We assume she means this video:

Some of the criticism was rather poetic:
