Newcastle-born presenters Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly (AKA Ant and Dec) have been quite involved with the royals in recent times. They’ve stayed at the Prince of Wales’s country house, met the queen and filmed a documentary all about the Prince’s Trust. Of course, it was necessary for them to meet the Duke of Cambridge/ Prince William, who not only made the Geordie duo appear shorter than they really are, but has also been very much in the public eye over the last two or three years.

Ant and Dec wanted to know all about his experiences as a new father of Prince George and Princess Charlotte. William described feeling more “emotional” as a result of fatherhood  and how he now appreciates “how precious life is” more than before.

He also told us that he will be making sure George and Charlotte won’t end up spoilt or naive. “I remember my mother and father taking us to charities and organisations and showing us, you know, what – what goes on,” he said, “And I think it’s seeing – seeing such a broad spectrum of life, it’s really important from a young age, to give you a bit of perspective…you don’t just live in a palace, it’s very important you get out and you see what goes on in the real world.”

Prince William may be blue-blooded, he’s still in touch with us commoners.
