Yahoo move with the times

Yahoo are trying to catch up in mobile services by unveiling a messaging app to compete with similar apps such as Snapchat, Whatsapp and Facebook Messenger. The latest Yahoo messaging app is a mix between Snapchat and generic texting, which allows you to send video calls with text rather than audio to keep the conversation private.

The Yahoo team chose to focus on video and text emoticons because they found that with audio, in many situations, people aren’t willing to engage. The app was tested in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Ireland.

The app is now available for Apple and Android devices in the UK, US, Canada, Germany and France.
