Exams

Hello everyone!

I hope you all had a great half-term – one that wasn’t filled with too much homework as we all know what’s coming from today onwards.

Exams.

Oh yes, our favourite things. The weeks leading up to them that are crammed full of notes, colour-coordination and a different kind of wallpaper thanks to those lovely spider diagrams we produce.

Then, there’s the worst part of the whole process: waiting to enter the exam hall. It’s when the nerves build up and you begin to sweat, heart racing and head spinning. For me, there is no worse feeling. I usually think that I’m going to fail and that when I do fail, I’ll fail every other subject and will continue to do so for the rest of my entire life. You’d be right if you said I don’t think outside of the box when it comes to exams. My box is very dark.

But, I am here to tell you that it won’t all be that bad. Before I begin my revision (I know, I’ve left it too late already) I want to put it out there that we’ll get through it. Exams won’t be the making or breaking of us – I know that much. And, if you’re reading this, you can quote me on it at any point when I say something like ‘this is the end’ or ‘I’m going to fail’.

So, if there’s one message of this week’s back to school column, I think it’s not to be afraid. If you want a good grade, go for it. As long as you put in the effort and look after yourself at the same time, you will be able to achieve whatever you want in your exams. You just have to try hard and stop procrastiating. I do know that’s harder than it sounds… trust me.

And finally, if you get stuck along the way, have a listen to the song below a few times. It may be a cliche, but I guarantee you’ll feel a whole lot better afterwards.
