#YEAR11PROBLEMS

Results

Last Wednesday, anyone who sat the iGCSE English Language exam (the one about Vic Armstrong and skydiving) received an envelope with one letter and a number inside on a slip of paper. Yes – results.

As someone who has been the recipient of results at both ends of the spectrum, I can completely understand anyone who was delighted with their results and anyone who was hurt by them.

However, while people may be disappointed with that letter, you’ve got to know that the disappointment and initial sting of the results will fade and it will pass, just like everything else. Knowing that you also have the opportunity to re-sit the exam can also be a comfort – it’s a second chance. And, if English is something that really matters to you and you want to improve your grade, then you should take that opportunity and run with it.

Hopefully you also know that the only part of the result that should really matter to you is the coursework and not whether you can guess the ‘logic’ of the Cambridge exam board. The coursework component was the part that assessed your skill, which is why so many people performed better.

Either way, congratulations to everyone and take your result and do what you can with it.
