Exams: the final countdown

Well, well, well.

It is both fantastic and frightening to think that this time next week, I will have finished my GCSEs. This will all be over.

For many of us, that is the case. And it’s really unusual to imagine what life is like without exams. Is there one? What is an exam-free existence?

We’re so used to the pressure and the crippling anxiety of examinations that most of us are numb by this point. It’s almost as though we are on autopilot when it comes to the final exams: we’re just turning up to school, sitting an exam and leaving.

It feels like I’ve been caught up in some kind of wave. Having six exams in one week almost wiped me out and I’m sure most of you can identify with this. We’ve got nothing left to give.

But the idea that it’s all over in just a few days for a lot of us is making us inch ever closer to that glorious finish line. It will feel so brilliant when we finally get there.

This is it, though: the final countdown. In just days we will have completed our GCSEs and we will consequently be set free. Although I’m really not sure what to do with that freedom… apart from reading hundreds of books, binge-watching all of my favourite films and writing ten novels.

I hope you all get some rest this week and have the best time post-science exams. I think I’ll go for a long nap and wake up for prom. Sounds like a plan.

See you when it’s over!
