#YEAR12PROBLEMS

Snobbery

It’s time for a good old-fashioned rant. Snobbery is one of the great ills of humanity, if you ask me. The notion that some people are better than others because they are more intelligent, richer, of a better background or because they shop in a certain place is a) ludicrous and b) completely wrong.

Snobbery is not anything to be proud of, as most snobs would disagree with. It’s actually quite shameful and I wonder how many of today’s problems are a result of this practice. I imagine quite a bit of it, considering the unrealistic expectations forced upon girls and boys from a young age.

The real issue I have is in understanding it. Why do people actually think that just because they shop in Waitrose for sliced bread, they are automatically ‘better’ than other people? Why do they look down their noses at someone carrying a Lidl bag? What is it in their life that makes them so insecure they have to push negativity onto other people?

Please don’t be a snob today. Or any other day for that matter. It’s not cool, pretty or even vaguely funny. You just look like a complete and upper muppet. Fact.
