The importance of old friends

Often overlooked and forgotten about are old friends. The people who you made memories with all through school. The people who you were inseparable from for years. The people who you now don’t think about every day, but whose existence has helped to shape your own.

There is an importance to having ‘old friends’. They have knowledge of a version of you few others do, and they have a unique ability to take you back to a time when you were younger. And, usually, back then being with your friends was carefree and pure fun. So being with an old friend can take you back to a place you long to go back to – and it’s entirely worth it.

The best old friends are worth keeping in touch with because, no matter how long it’s been since you last spoke, if it’s real, it will be as though you’ve never been apart. That’s how you know you’ve got a bond for life with your old friends, and it’s how you know you’ve simply just got to keep in touch with them.

Old friends are important because they’re a place you can feel at home and a place where you really believe that the world, in all its complexity, is at peace. Even if it’s just for a few minutes.
