1D’s Niall Horan goes solo

The music industry has been looking a little bit bleak lately – every artist and every song sounds the same. We were getting bored.

Well, fear not. Former One Direction member Niall Horan has dropped a brand new single, This Town, and has shocked fans around the world. After just twenty four hours it is already top of the iTunes chart, the video has received hundreds of thousands of views (and counting) and the number one worldwide trend on Twitter is ‘This Town’.

Horan is the second of the band to go solo after former member Zayn Malik left the band during their Where We Are Tour due to stress and the lack of enthusiasm he had for the band’s work.

This Town is typically how you would think of a Niall Horan solo song: it’s acoustic, soft and very stripped back. Fans have praised it and so have Horan’s bandmates themselves. Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Harry Styles – who is expected to drop a new album or single soon himself – congratulated the Irishman on his new song.
