Wow.

Facepunch Studios developer Gary Newman has released refund stats, showing just how many people have refunded the game. The 329,970 refunded keys equate to just over $4 million.

It sounds like a serious blow to the developers, however, keep in mind that there are still 5 million people who own rust, even if they aren’t all playing it.

Given that it’s sale season, it is no surprise that refunds would shoot up, due to people buying games, trying them under the two-hour restriction, then refunding them if they don’t like them. It’s a pretty good system for trying games you wouldn’t otherwise get.

The number of games refunded equates to about 6% of all copies sold.

May people refunded the game due to “bad performance” or it simply being “not fun”. Which is understandable. For the day and a half, I put into Rust, I was entertained. But frustrated as heck. Unforgiving, but there are things that are still not fixed. Animals walk through things, the performance tanks for no reason.

Unfortunately, it’s highly unlikely we’ll see Rust come out of Early Access anytime soon, so it may just be doomed to be in the state it is in now.

Not to mention they’ve monetised skins.

Did we mention how PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds didn’t do any of that stuff?

I came top 10 with eight kills last night.

Pretty dang proud of me for that.
