5 Top Pumpkin Carving Tips

Speaking from experience, carving a pumpkin for the first time can be pretty difficult. So, if you’re hoping to have some carving fun this Halloween, a few tips will probably go a long way. Here are our top 5 tips for carving that perfect pumpkin:

  1. Cut out the lid on an angle, instead of cutting straight down. This way, the lid won’t fall straight through and burn on your nicely lit tea lights. Nobody wants that!
  2. Scoop EVERYTHING out! It is difficult, but if you leave all the hard-to-get bits in, the pumpkin is likely to decompose a lot quicker.
  3. Draw your design with a whiteboard marker. By doing this, you can easily try out a few ideas before coming to your final decision. Plus, it’s super easy to rub off so nobody will ever know!
  4. Be creative. This year, some people are taking pumpkin carving to the next level. Here are some of our favourite designs:

5. To keep your pumpkin looking great for longer, spread petroleum jelly on the cut edges to seal in moisture.
