Dealing with the death of someone close to you can be very difficult and upsetting. You might feel lonely or numb, but these feelings will go away with time.
You could try to talk to other people who are experiencing the same feelings as you, as it may help for you to both talk about it on a personal level. Yet, it is important to remember that not everyone will want to talk about their feelings openly as it may upset them more. So, if you can’t turn to them then you might want to talk to others who you trust instead. Alternatively, there are plenty of services available online or over the phone. For instance, ChildLine have plenty of counsellors available 24/7 to talk to you about how you are feeling at childline.org.
It is important to look after yourself during this time, especially if you are not feeling as lively as normal. Eat well and continue to do regular exercise, as well as sleeping for a sufficient amount of hours every night. Do not isolate yourself from others, as this will only make you feel worse. This feeling of grief will only be temporary, and will get better if you allow yourself time to feel this way. However, do not put pressure on yourself to feel better straight away – the amount of time it takes is unique to every person and no amount is right or wrong.
