Remember last week when a L’Oreal model made headlines for wearing a headscarf? Yeah, she’s gone now after some tweets back in 2014.

UK blogger Amena Khan has pulled out of L’Oreal’s latest advertising campaign after tweets were brought to the attention of the company from 2014. The messages on social media were ‘anti-Israel’ in nature, days after she was delighted to be part of the campaign.

She explained on Instagram that she was stepping down ‘with regret’ due to the ‘current conversations surrounding it detracts from the positive and inclusive nature I set out to deliver’. She has deleted the tweets but has completely stepped down from her position in the campaign.

A spokesperson for L’Oreal Paris told BBC Newsbeat:

‘We have recently been made aware of a series of tweets posted in 2014 by Amena Khan, who was featured in a UK advertising campaign.

‘We appreciate that Amena has apologised for the content of these tweets and the offence they have caused’.

Well, that was short lived.

Twitter seems to be a veritable closet for high profile blogger’s skeletons. Recently, people like Zoella have been targeted through the site for tweets they made years ago that was deemed homophobic or offensive.

The solution?

Keep your awful opinions to yourself thanks.
