Amy’s Plus-Size Feud with Glamour

It appears that Glamour magazine have made an unlikely enemy in comedian and popular TV personality Amy Schumer, after featuring her as an ‘inspiration’ in their plus-size focused issue.

Schumer angrily took to social media site Instagram, naming and shaming the magazine for featuring her previous August cover interview with Glamour in their new ‘Chic at any Size’ issue. The displeased actress wrote that despite thinking “there’s nothing wrong with being plus sized,” she was less than impressed with Glamour. Schumer went on to write “Plus size is considered a size 16 in America. I go between a size 6 and 8” and also mentioned her displeasure about Glamour featuring her “without asking me or letting me know…it doesn’t feel right to me.”

A spokesperson for Glamour apologised if the issue offended the actress, despite the fact that the magazine did write that the feature included inspirational women whose sizes ranged from 12 to 22 and never explicitly called Amy plus-sized. Glamour defended themselves by commenting that the cover merely says “Women Who Inspire Us” but went on to clarify “We love Amy…which is why we featured her… We are sorry if we offended her in any way.”

Despite Glamour’s well-intended apology, the outraged actress was still unhappy and took matters further by shaming the magazine on national TV in her appearance on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, commenting “we don’t need these labels, we don’t need them.”
