Anxiety UK and YouthNet say more 16-25 year olds are looking online for help with anxiety. Anxiety UK had over 5,000 young people visit their website in January 2014 compared to only 3,500 young people in January 2013. YouthNet also recorded a rise in visitors with 1,325 more young people visiting their site in January 2014 than January 2013.  According to Anxiety UK, as many as 1 in 6 young people will experience an anxiety problem in their lives.

Emma Rubach from YouthNet said “Anxiety is a ticking time bomb among young children. For many years it hasn’t really been recognised that they’re suffering from it. Now that people are starting to get help I think we’re starting to see more numbers coming forward”.

How you could be your anxieties:

  • Make sure you get enough sleep. This is vital. 7 to 9 hours of sweet slumber levels out your anxiety throughout the day.
  • Learn to breathe properly when you are in a panic. In through the nose, out through the mouth. Do this slowly and calmly.
  • Don’t worry! We can’t help ourselves from time to time but just think… what’s the worst that can happen?
  • Chill out time. Everyone needs a bit of ‘me’ time, whether that is taking the dog for a walk or a nice relaxing bath.
