Are Claims of Global Warming Really Valid?

Global warming is an issue which most people are aware of, which often produces concerns about the unknown consequences. It is described as the gradual increase in the temperature of the earth, supposedly due to an increase in the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, adding to the greenhouse effect. While there is some evidence that this is exactly what is happening, some of the information that you believe to be ‘fact’ may actually just be a myth. What do you think?

One of the most common ‘facts’ that is perceived to be a myth by some is that the average global temperature of the earth has increased in the last few years, and is predicted to increase further in the future. According to globalresearch.ca, the temperature has not increased since 1995, with a decrease in 2002, despite rising levels of carbon dioxide. In addition, although there have been claims that the temperature will continue to increase over the next 100 years – by up to 6°C – other computer models of the same level of validity claim the opposite – a cooling effect.

There is also a link to the melting of the ice caps at both the North and South Pole. Yet, it has been argued that the ice sheets are not warming, but rather cooling at their summit and growing in thickness. It is believed that the temperatures they are reaching today match those in the 1940s, suggesting that there is no link between the increase in carbon dioxide levels and global warming.

However, you must remember that there is a lot of evidence supporting climate change, and these are simply theories against it. It does not mean that either view is true, as both have evidence for them.
