Back Home and Birthdays

I am returning home, back to the Wirral, tomorrow and I am looking forward to home comforts: homemade food, my own bed, central heating! Not to mention some time to chill out. Student life is fun but very full on, and after 12 weeks I’m beginning to feel the strain!

As probably none of you will know, yesterday was my birthday. This was my first birthday away from home so it was obviously very different to what I am used to. The good news is that I am able to get two lots of celebrations for my birthday: I went out to toon here, and I will have a family party when I return home. I took full advantage of the fact it was my birthday, showing my ID as proof to blag free entry and free drinks, and on the way home I even managed to get a free takeaway.

It sucked having to clean up after my own party: I had people over before we went out, and because it was my birthday, I was left with the responsibility of tidying up the kitchen, including mopping up the floor from numerous spillages. We do have a cleaner, but they will only clean up ‘reasonable’ mess, which is fair enough. So unfortunately I was left to sort out the fallout.

I will miss Newcastle and it is scary to think that I am halfway through this year of university already!
