Band Aid was originally formed in 1984 and went on to raise £8 million for famine-affected Ethiopia. It featured the likes of Bananarama, Duran Duran and U2 front man Bono. Midge Ure and Bob Geldolf were the brains behind the project back in the eighties and now the duo have come together again, to work on #BandAid30.

Recording for the remake of the infamous anthem  ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas’ is set to take place this weekend. One Direction will appear on the track with the likes of Ed Sheeran, Chris Martin, Olly Murs, Sam Smith, Bastille, Elbow, Ellie Goulding and Emeli Sande.

It is likely that Adele will also be taking part, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

The 2014 single is set to be released on  17th November and will cost £4, but you can download it for 99p and it will also be available on Spotify in 2015. The money raised from the record sales will go towards battling the illness Ebola.

Like any good cause here in Great Britain it will undoubtedly raise plenty of money to prevent the spread of this epidemic.
