Battlefront 2 is the center of a few discussions right now. The main one being the whole loot box fad coming to a point, so much so that EA has suspended the use of its additional monetizing while it figures out how to make a complete game. Many impressionist videos and reviews have noted the prevalence of the loot box system in the game, thus dragging it down. Here’s what everyone’s saying, now that people have had a few days with the title.

Gamespot –  ‘But as it stands, the biggest hurdle that Battlefront II will need to overcome–for its simultaneous attempts to balance microtransactions with genuine feeling of accomplishments–is deciding on what type of game it wants to be.’

GamesRadar – ‘Multiplayer, on the other hand, is exceptionally polished and entertaining, and once you learn to accept the frustrating progression system, it’ll keep you visiting the galaxy far, far away for months.’

Digital Trends – ‘It feels the same, and carries all the same problems, as its predecessor. With a fun but ultimately unremarkable single-player story, returning to Battlefront probably won’t blow many fans’ minds.’

Shacknews – ‘The loot crates diminish its value greatly, and it’s a shame EA forces them down your throat as part of the core gameplay, but the game looks gorgeous and is enjoyable to play.’

IGN – ‘…in terms of delivering on that Star Wars fantasy, jumping from corner to corner of the galaxy to see as much as it has to offer, Battlefront 2 succeeds in a very fun way. I’m just not sure there’s enough here to keep me interested for very long.’

I have the game currently installed, but have yet to dive in. It’s a shame the game ended up being a bit of a bloated mess. In the process of advertising the game, EA became the owner of the most down voted comment in the history of Reddit and succeeded in securing the meme of the month.

If you don’t want to pay full price you can pay for EA Access which gives you ten hours free. You’ll need that much minimum to unlock Vader.
