Years & Years
Despite only releasing her album last month, Adele has rocketed her way to this award. Her album made UK chart history, with 800,000 sales within the first week of her album 25 being released. No other album had sold this many, this year in the same space of time. She certainly played her cards right, so a big ‘well done’ to Adele. We hope you get to the other side at some point.
International Artist of the Year
Foo Fighters
Hozier
Major Lazer
Prince
Taylor Swift (winner)
The Weeknd
Taylor was unable to make the awards, but thanked the BBC for shipping her award out to Australia, saying “it must have cost a lot”. This year, Taylor dominated charts with the likes of Bad Blood, and Wildest Dreams.
Song of the year
Ed Sheeran – Bloodstream
Ellie Goulding – Love Me Like You Do
Hozier – Take Me to Church (winner)
Jason Derulo – Want To Want Me
Jess Glynne – Hold My Hand
Major Lazer & DJ Snake feat. MØ – Lean On

Wiz Khalifa feat. Charlie Puth – See You Again
Among the heavy hitters, 25-year-old Andrew Hozier-Byrne made his debut in 2013 with the very song he won the award for. This will be his second award this year after the VH1 Artist of the Year, which was based on fan votes.
Introducing…
Sound Of 2016 artists Jack Garrett also made his debut as the BBC’s Introducing act. And he blew us away with his original track Worry, which you can watch here. Garrett is on his way to stardom as we speak, and we wish him all the best.
Another fantastic year for music, and even better for new artists. We look forward to the new year, and to new artists being given the chance to stand in the spotlight for a while… before Adele releases another album.
