The BPI is creating a new apprenticeship scheme and will be funded through the Brits’ charity The Brits Trust. They will be giving out paid placements at independent record labels and music companies.

These roles could last up to 14 years.

Apprenticeships are key to ‘bring new and diverse talent into the industry’, the BPI said. There are several companies involved in the new scheme, including record labels and digital distributors, streaming apps and vinyl manufacturers.

Little Mix was among the winners of this year’s awards.

The apprenticeships will take on ten people, and be given a ‘high quality, paid opportunity to work at a top independent record label or music company’. Entrants must be 18 or over and will start in January of next year. The successful candidates will get special training in either administration or digital marketing.

Six places are available in London, with the other four being in Wales, Birmingham, Norwich and Leicester. In London, the salary will be £18,000 to start, with apprenticeships outside the capital earning £15,000 to reflect lower living costs.

It was also the first time Ed Sheeran and Stormzy performed together.

Sounds dang good, if you can relocate or are in the area. Here’s the link!

Good luck!

The next Brit Awards ceremony will be on 21st February 2018.
