Brits 2014

The Brit Awards 2014 became the most tweeted about UK TV show last week. More than four million tweets were posted about the show. You could vote, via Twitter, for who you wanted to win the Mastercard British Album of the Year and the most retweeted tweet of the night came from Harry Styles with 150,000 retweets.

One Direction and the Arctic Monkeys were the big winners taking two awards each. Alex Turner’s speech divided the country, leaving us wonder if he is brilliant of plain stupid. Many people took to Facebook to write on Alex Turner fan walls to say how ‘cocky’ Alex spoke. He finished the acceptance speech by saying ‘invoice me for the microphone, if you need to’ before dropping the mic on the floor. The little devil.

Acts such as Ellie Goulding, Katy Perry, Arctic Monkeys, Bruno Mars, Lourde and Pharrell Williams performed at the Brits along with a fully clothed Beyoncé. Rudimental and Bastille performed ‘Pompeii’ and ‘Waiting All Night’ together as a mash-up to rival that of Kendrick Lamar and Imagine Dragons two weeks earlier at the Grammy’s in LA.

David Bowie has become the oldest artist to win a Brit Award at the age of 67 taking the title from Sir Tom Jones. Mr Bowie wasn’t there to accept the award himself, so he got the next best thing; Kate Moss sporting the actual Ziggy Stardust costume worn by David  himself.
