Thanks to Brighton’s loss against Preston North on the 14th, Newcastle United are back on top of the Championship League Table. Brighton are in second place with 57 points while Newcastle – like in previous weeks – are only one point ahead, but the goal difference between the two teams is a lot greater. Newcastle are 9 points ahead in goal difference which could be the make or break factor in the result of a tie. NUFC beat Rotherham 4-0 on Saturday even without the club’s star striker Dwight Gayle, who is currently injured following a knock to his knee in a previous match.

The first goal was scored by Daryl Murphy in the first half, who has scored in every single one of Newcastle’s last three matches. The second and fourth came from Matt Ritchie in the first and second half while the third was by Ayoze Perez. For Rotherham, the loss probably came as no shock, as the team have lost 17 out of 21 games all season.

Rotherham manager Paul Warne said this about Newcastle:

“They have got class and quality all over the pitch; they will be a Premier League club again next season.”
