Oh, the X-Men Cinematic Universe. What are we going to do with you?

20th Century Fox has announced a delay for its upcoming movies X-Men: Dark Phoenix and New Mutants will both be moving release dates, thanks to a large number of major reshoots in both films.

The news was reported first by ComicBook.com which says Dark Phoenix’s delays are mostly due to scheduling issues. With a cast that includes some high-profile actors, like Jennifer Lawrence and Michael Fassbender, it should be no surprise that it would be difficult to get all the actors in the same room.

Dark Phoenix will centre around the comic book storyline of the same name. Jean grey becomes possessed by an alien energy, causing her to become one of the most powerful mutants ever. She also kills…a lot of people.

Not to mention the fact that Sophie Turner is also in the movie, who is currently filming the last season of Game of Thrones.

New Mutants, on the other hand, has a lot more reshoots than Dark Phoenix. Collider reports that at least half of the film could be redone to make it scarier, which may add a new character also. Fox is hoping for the unique tone to stand out among the likes of Deadpool and Logan. It apparently didn’t have the scare factor the studio was expecting.

Dark Phoenix has been pushed to February 2019 and New Mutants has been pushed from February 2019 to August, as creative differences between director Josh Boone and Fox continue.

But while all this is happening, nobody mentions Gambit.

RIP.
