New regulations are going to be put into place to stop people driving whilst under the influence of drugs. The drugalyser can be used roadside meaning drivers will get drug tested there and then if stopped by the police for driving offences.

Those who fail the test will face prosecution if they are under the influence of cannabis, cocaine and eight prescription drugs including Morphine and Methadone.

The existing penalty fine is up to £5,000, up to 6 month in prison and minimum of one year driving ban.
