After the release of two singles at once following a year-long hiatus, Ed Sheeran has conquered the charts.

Shape of You and Castle on the Hill have reached the number one and number two spots in the Official Chart, marking an unprecedented moment in music history.

This week has included mass speculation on whether Sheeran could do it or not as the Official Charts Company say it is the first time ever than an artist has achieved top two chart positions with brand new songs.

The singer said he was “incredibly chuffed” by the success. “Both tracks mean a huge amount to me so it really is amazing to see them go to the top of the chart together.”

Fans of the superstar guitarist are now excited for the release of Sheeran’s new album ÷ (Divide) on 3rd March. And if (Multiply) and (Plus) are anything to go by, the next album is set to rock the music world and will probably become the best-selling album of 2017.
