Singing sensation Ed Sheeran has shocked fans after landing himself a role in the forthcoming American Historical fiction Drama television series, The Bastard Executioner.  Ed is set to play Sir Cormac who is described as a deadly and ambitious character. The Grammy winning singer has also recorded a version of Foy Vance’s ‘Make it Rain’ for the penultimate episode.

Ed explained the genre to The Sun by saying,

“It’s a medieval TV show and it’s really, really dark, It’s gruesome and it’s going to be fine because my friend wrote it. I feel like people would expect me to be in a romcom or something, so I wanted to be in something people don’t expect me to.”

The series was created by Kurt Suttler, who is also the man behind the crime drama series Sons of Anarchy, which was a massive hit on Netflix. The Bastard Executioner is set to launch in the US in October, the filming for the series started in the UK this month.
